Dr. Andrew C. Stone, MD – Addiction Medicine Physician
A physician who works with a Providence, RI healthcare organization, Andrew C. Stone, MD, has worked across multiple medical fields since graduating from the University of Vermont College of Medicine in 1999. Of his many roles, Dr. Andrew C. Stone was an addiction medicine physician with organizations such as CODAC, Discovery House and Rogers Williams Medical Center in Providence, RI.
Dr. Stone began his career as an attending physician in the pulmonary and critical care units at Providence VA Medical Center in July 2006. The same year, he also was a clinical instructor at Brown University. By 2015, Discovery House Northern Rhode Island hired him as a physician specializing in addiction medicine, where he subsequently became the medical director.
In late 2018, Eleanor Slater Hospital hired the physician to work in the Pulmonary, Internal Medicine, and Addiction Medicine departments. This organization appointed him as Chief of Medical Services/Assistant Chief Medical Officer in 2020. During this time, Dr. Stone also was an addiction medicine physician with Roger Williams Medical Center, where he still is today.
As an addiction medicine physician, Dr. Stone conducts in-patient consultations for people with opioid use disorder as well as manages complex alcohol withdrawal. He directs patient care and supervises supporting staff. He also engages in research.
In addition to addiction medicine, the physician has lectured annually at the Brown University Psychiatry Residency Program since 2019 and the Roger Williams Hospital IM Residency Program since 2022.
